Hear more about how Monet’s well-known painting has shaped this exhibition and its associated programme from Head of Public Engagement, Curatorial and Collections, Dr Alexandra Woodall. ON SATURDAY 6TH AND SUNDAY 7TH JULY WE’VE ALSO GOT A SPECIAL OFFER JUST FOR BURNBY HALL GARDENS MEMBERS…
***THE BELOW ONLY APPLIES TO BURNBY HALL GARDENS MEMBERS***
As part of a partnership with Burnby Hall Gardens & Museum, York Museums Trust is delighted to offer free entry to Burnby Hall Gardens members to York Art Gallery on production of a Burnby membership card, on the weekend of 6th and 7th July 2024.
On these dates, Members are invited to come and see this amazing exhibition celebrating the 200th birthday of the National Gallery, who are sharing 12 of their most famous paintings with galleries across the UK as part of their National Treasures celebration. We are thrilled to be hosting an exhibition at York Art Gallery that centres on Monet’s iconic painting, The Water-Lily Pond.
In addition to exploring the exhibition, York Museums Trust are also thrilled to have grown a Monet-inspired wildflower meadow in our Museum Gardens (you can see this from the top floor of the Art Gallery, where they also have a lovely bar), and after walking through the meadow, they have a wonderful trail with empty picture frames capturing Monet-inspired views across our beautiful Museum Gardens (walk from the back of the Art Gallery, through the edible and artists’ gardens, past the ruins of St Mary’s Abbey, and towards the Yorkshire Museum.
Please note: Members are also welcome to visit the Yorkshire Museum, but there is an entrance charge for this.
At the weekends, York Museums Trust also run Museum Garden tours run by their Gardens team.
These are on a first-come, first-served basis, and take place for one hour between 12 – 1pm on Saturday and Sunday. They do ask for a £5 donation for these and work with a maximum of 15 people per tour.
